James McAvoy Tapped to Play ‘James Bond’ Creator
James McAvoy (Atonement, The Last Station) will portray Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, in a film adaptation of Fleming’s book, “The Man Behind James Bond.”
The film is reportedly already being financed for $40 million and Palmstar Entertainment, an independent U.S. studio is planning on shooting it next year.
Fleming, who died in 1964 at the age of 56, published his first novel “Casino Royale” with the main character, James Bond, “modeled loosely on several former wartime colleagues.”
McAvoy can be seen next on the big screen starring opposite Christopher Plummer, Helen Mirren and Paul Giamatti in The Last Station, which is based on the final year of author Leo Tolstoy and his relationship with his wife, Sofya.
McAvoy is currently in Savannah, Georgia, shooting Robert Redford’s The Conspirator, which is based on the assassination trial of Abraham Lincoln.
Are YOU excited to see him play Ian Fleming?
