‘Avatar’ Dominates at the Box Office

James Cameron’s Avatar is continuing to doing well at the box office.

Over the weekend, the film grossed $64.3 million nationwide and made a $1 billion worldwide.

In total Avatar made $351 million domestic total, which is one of the biggest third weekend in the U.S. ever.

Sherlock Holmes came in second place making $38.4 million and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel rounded out the top three with $36.6 million

Overall, the box office was up 70 percent from last year.
