Kate Winslet to Star in HBO Miniseries

HBO has picked up Mildred Pierce, a five-hour miniseries which will star Kate Winslet.

Todd Haynes (Far From Heaven) is set to direct the miniseries.

Mildred Pierce is adapted from James M. Cain’s novel and centers around Beragon (Winslet), a proud, single mother struggling to earn her daughter’s love during the Great Depression in middle-class Los Angeles.

Casting for the other roles will begin soon and production is set to start in April in New York.

Winslet is signed on for an Untitled Peter Farrelly comedy where she will star alongside Hugh Jackman, Sean William Scott and Johnny Knoxville.
