DVD Review: The Switch

The Switch is not a romantic comedy as advertised, but that’s OK.

During the film you come to realize that that it’s not about Jason Bateman’s comedic way of acting, but rather his moving performance as Wally, a successful guy doesn’t have any luck with his personal relationships and his constant worries.

Additionally, Jennifer Aniston shines as Kassie, a women who wants a child more than anything in the world, but doesn’t want to conform to dating or even marrying a man to conceive one. She instead holds an “Insemination party” where the handsome and charming sperm donor, Roland (Patrick Wilson) is ready to help Kassie conceive a child.

However, Wally, who’s drunk and doesn’t like the idea of Kassie being inseminated with this sperm, plays with the cup, accidentally spills it into the sink and replaces it with his own.

The film has a few laughs, but most importantly tugs on real life issues and relationships.

Juliette Lewis play’s Kassie’s best friend and Jeff Goldblum plays Wally’s co-worker/ friend.

Jennifer Aniston: Allure Magazine February 2011

Jennifer Aniston covers the February issue of Allure magazine. Here’s what the 41-year-old actress shared:

On the famous “Rachel” ‘do she once sported: “I love Chris [McMillan, her hairstylist], and he’s the bane of my existence at the same time because he started that damn Rachel, which was not my best look. How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I’ve ever seen. What I really want to know is, how did that thing have legs? Let’s just say I’m not a fan of short, layered cuts on me personally, so I don’t love revisiting that particular era.”

On not taking herself seriously: “I’m actually comfortable in goofdom. Not taking myself seriously is one of my favorite things to do, because I don’t. Ever.”

On changing her looks in her upcoming films: “I didn’t wear mascara in Just Go With It. It’s fun to transform a little bit — what did I have to lose? I was ready to be silly and go with a full-out comedy, and it was the first time I felt truly sure about what I was walking into. Because with the last couple of movies, I wasn’t completely sure, and I should have probably trusted my gut. For whatever reason, they all happen the way they’re supposed to.”

Jennifer Aniston in Talks to Join Arrested Development Movie

According to Arrested Development star Jason Bateman, there is a role in the film for Jennifer Aniston.

Yeah, actually, there’s a real good part for her in the Arrested Development movie. There’s no offers on this one [though]. She’s gonna have to sing for her supper. I don’t know, we’ll see if she’s available. She’s busy. She’s pretty famous; I don’t know if you’ve heard of her. She’s pretty backed up. Hopefully the guy who’s in charge will like her for that part because I’m going to suggest her.”

The film’s creator is already halfway done with the script.

Bateman and Aniston have already shared the screen in several films, including The Break-Up, The Switch and the upcoming Horrible Bosses.

Jennifer Aniston: Harper’s Bazaar September 2010

Jennifer Aniston pays homage to Barbara Streisand in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar. Aniston channeled Streisand in Funny Girl and What’s Up, Doc?. Here’s what the 41-year-old actress said:

On Streisand inspiring her: “Barbra inspires me because there isn’t anything she hasn’t done that she wanted to do, especially as a female in the time when her generation was prime. She’s a true renaissance woman. . . I had a long conversation with Barbra about directing because I directed a short a couple years ago, and if I don’t do it again soon, I’m going to burst out of my skin. And we also love interior design.”

On what she’s learned from Barbra Streisand: “You don’t have to stop at one thing. You can do it all if you want to.”

On being in the public eye: “[Barbra and I] are people who have been put in the spotlight, for better or for worse, and you just keep riding, and you keep overcoming.”
